What you should know before enrolling your child in a dance school
·
To
get the best results, the dedication of both the parents and students to commit
to weekly classes is imperative. Attendance and practice produce the best
results. Since most students don’t drive themselves to class, parents must
be committed to weekly classes.
· The main focus when inquiring about a dance program / school should not be as much the cost, but more of the quality of dance education and overall exposure for the student.
· Parents should be very cognizant of the dance school history and overall background and reputation within the community.
· Parents should look for a program that will allow their child a long - term, positive experience. This includes pre-professional technical training, performance exposure opportunities and related training needed for the real world.
· Because of the time commitment involved on both ends, parents should look for a school where there is a good culture for parental involvement and open communication regarding classes and outside programs/projects.
· Parents should make sure the school will also be a good fit for their cultural background; The dance school should also meet their immediate and long term dance goals and objectives.
· Encourage students to practice at home on a daily basis. This is the only proven method for them to improve and gain confidence in their dance ability.
· If you don't see improvement in a week, month or even a couple of months, that is fine. Dance is an art and it takes time to learn and perfect this art form.
· Students have good and bad days. We encourage students to stay with us at least 3 months before dropping any dance classes. This gives ample time to evaluate class interest, absorb the studio culture and the students true commitment to dance.
· Paying on time helps saves you from paying extra in late fees. Timely payments also minimize the interruption in class participation, which allow us to provide the best dance education possible.
· Students can be self conscious when learning new technique and steps around others outside of the classroom. Parents can also sometimes be a distraction to the student. We don't allow parent observation during the dance year for this main reason.
